{"id":905,"date":"2016-11-11T21:23:54","date_gmt":"2016-11-11T21:23:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.margiesrecipes.com\/?p=905"},"modified":"2016-11-11T21:24:16","modified_gmt":"2016-11-11T21:24:16","slug":"bacon-triple-cheese-strata-bread-pudding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.margiesrecipes.com\/?p=905","title":{"rendered":"BACON &#038; TRIPLE- CHEESE STRATA BREAD PUDDING"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">12 Ounces (1 package) of pancetta or bacon, chopped;<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">2 Small yellow onions, diced;<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">1 clove of garlic, minced;<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">6 Large eggs;<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">2 \u00bd Cups of whole milk;<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">2 Cups of finely grated smoked Gouda cheese;<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">\u00bd Cup of finely grated Parmesan cheese;<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">\u00bd Cup of whipping cream;<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">2 Tablespoons of chopped fresh oregano;<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">\u00bd Teaspoon of salt;<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">\u00bd Teaspoon of pepper;<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">1 Loaf of rustic French or Italian bread, cut in 1-inch cubes; and<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">2 Cups of grated fontina cheese (about 8 ounces).<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">Heat a large skillet over medium heat &amp; cook bacon until crisp &amp; transfer bacon to a dish. Drain excess fat from skillet, but don\u2019t wipe out pan. Add the onion &amp; garlic &amp; cook until golden brown &amp; fragrant, about 5 minutes, &amp; than remove from heat.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">Whisk the eggs, milk, Gouda cheese, Parmesan cheese, cream, oregano, salt &amp; pepper in a large bowl.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">Butter a 13x9x2 inch ceramic or glass-baking dish (about 3 quarts). Spread about 1\/3 of the bread in the pan, top with a 1\/3 of the bacon, than 1\/3 of the onion. Pour 1\/3 of the egg mixture over. Repeat layering with remaining bread, bacon, onion, and egg mixture. Cover &amp; leave in refrigerator overnight to allow the bread to soak up the custard.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Times New Roman;\">To cook, heat the oven to 350 degrees. Allow the strata to come to room temperature on the counter.
